  • Designing a .NET Connection Strategy

    Welcome to ISC1133: Designing a .NET Connection Strategy. This course contains four instructional lessons, plus several quiz questions. The videos and simulations in this course are best if viewed full screen.

    This course discusses at a high level some of the APIs that can be used to connect .NET applications to InterSystems IRIS Data Platform: ADO.net, the Native API for InterSystems IRIS, XEP, and Entity Framework. In this course, you will learn what the APIs are, the benefits and limitations of each, and in what circumstances each API might be best used.

    Prerequisite Learning or Experience A basic understanding of .NET is necessary for this course.

    Audience This course is intended for software developers who want to connect a .NET application to InterSystems IRIS.

    Duration  30 minutes.

    Learning Objectives By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    • Explain on a basic level what ADO.net, the Native API, XEP, and Entity Framework are.
    • Determine in a given situation which API or APIs should be used to connect a .NET application to the InterSystems IRIS database.
