  This page answers some of the questions frequently asked by users working on InterSystems Learning Services virtual machines.

  How do I copy-paste items between this virtual machine and my local machine?

  Click the clipboard icon at the top of your VM interface to access the clipboard panel that allows you to copy-paste between your virtual machine and local machine.

  To copy text from the VM and paste on your local machine:

  1. Select text in the VM and press the clipboard icon.
  2. Copy the text that populates into the text area and paste it on your local machine.

  To copy text from your local machine and paste on your VM:

  1. Select and copy the text from your local machine and press the clipboard icon on the VM.
  2. Paste the text into the text area, and a success message should appear. You can now paste that text in the VM.

  Click the Fit to Window icon to make the VM window as large as possible within the current browser window.

  Windows VMs:

  1. Hover over the open applications shown in the task bar along the bottom of your screen to see your open windows; from here you can navigate to any window.

  Ubuntu VMs:

  1. Use the task bar on the left to see your open applications.
  2. Click the Activities button in the top left corner to see all open applications and open or close them as desired.

  Use the following credentials to unlock your virtual machine if the screensaver resulted in a locked VM:
  

  • Username: student
  • Password: LearningServices7

  How do I change the keyboard to another language?

  If you are not using a U.S. English keyboard layout, you need to change the configuration of the VM to recognize your input. Since you are connecting to the VM through an SRA browser-based client, you need to modify the keyboard settings in both the browser client and the VM.

  To modify the client:

  1. Open the toolbar at the top of the browser window. If the toolbar is hidden, click the arrow tab to expand the window.
  2. Click the keyboard icon to open the keyboard dialogue box.
     
  3. In the keyboard layout drop-down menu, select your keyboard layout. Note that the VM can only support the keyboard layouts listed in this menu.
     

  To modify the Ubuntu VM:

  1. Check to see if the VM has your keyboard already added as an input source:
     1. In the top right corner of the VM window, click the arrow next to en1 to open the keyboard language drop-down menu. If this drop-down does not exist, proceed to step 2.
        
     2. If your language is available, select it from the drop-down list. Your keyboard is now active and you do not need to continue with the directions below.
     3. If your language is not available, continue with step 2.
  2. Click the Show Applications icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
     
  3. Search for Settings and click to open the settings.
     
  4. In the pane on the left, click Region & Language.
     
  5. Under Input Sources, click the plus icon.
     
  6. Search for your language and click Add. If you do not see your language listed, expand the menu by clicking the three dots, then click Other.
  7. In the top right corner of the VM window, click the arrow next to en1 to open the keyboard language drop-down menu. Select your language from the drop-down list if it is available.
     
     Your keyboard should now be active.
