  Learn the basics of HL7® FHIR® architecture and its underlying data model.

  In this exercise, you will use the InterSystems-supported Graph Builder 2 (GB2) app to begin building a FHIR data architecture, which is the basis for developing with FHIR. You will see how to create a FHIR data model and add key FHIR resources, which are individual units of meaningful health data. This exercise demonstrates the architecture of a FHIR profile and shows many of the principles that make FHIR a flexible data model.

  In this exercise, you used the GB2 app to create FHIR resources, identify resource elements, and build references to build a patient Problem List. You have begun to create a basic FHIR data model, which you can continue to develop by adding FHIR extensions and value sets. The FHIR data model is the basis for developing anything with FHIR.

  Continue using the GB2 app to design the data structure of your FHIR application or Implementation Guide. The model in our example now includes the patient's conditions and references, showing who reported, confirmed, and recorded diagnoses and observations.
