  In this course, you learned the difference between a prebuilt business component and a custom business component, and when to use each. This foundation allowed you to begin the process of designing a new custom business operation, including determining the message map and any needed adapters.

  In the next step of the process, creating the business operation, you learned how to create a business operation class definition and message map. Then, you coded each method in the message map to send a request downstream and return a response, if needed. After adding your new custom business operation to your production, you then learned how to configure and test the production to ensure each piece was running smoothly.
