  Learn how to build a BPL business process using the Business Process Designer in the Management Portal. Then, practice what you have learned with hands-on exercises.

  Business processes are responsible for handling the logic and message flow of a production. You will learn how to customize business processes using the Business Process Designer, a graphical interface within the Management Portal. InterSystems ObjectScript code is not required for these customizations.

  • Create a new BPL business process.
  • Add activities such as assign, if, call, and sync.

  • Add a business process to a production and configure basic settings.

  In this course, you learned how to use the Business Process Designer to create a BPL business process. This graphical interface gives you a great amount of flexibility to build a coordinated flow of activities that fits your needs.

  While some business processes may already exist to serve a particular purpose—such as routing messages or managing alerts—the Business Process Designer allows you to build custom business processes that perform many other functions, such as calling to other components, making decisions, or even building rules. Many other types of business processes provide these same functions, but the Business Process Designer gives you a way to easily build and modify business processes without interacting with the underlying code, and the Management Portal does not require any coding experience.
