  In this course, you learned how to process incoming and outgoing messages from a web service with SAML security. You learned how to add SAML security elements to outbound messages and how to retrieve and validate the security elements from inbound messages.

  In the example, Lauren was responsible for coding ABC Pharmacy's enterprise level web service, which would communicate with a number of external clients attempting to submit prescriptions and requests to a global prescription application. Lauren was able to:

  • Successfully set up a production with digital certificates and private keys.
  • Create credential sets.
  • Secure outbound messages to clients with SAML security elements.
  • Validate SAML security elements contained within received messages from those clients.
  • Set up her HealthShare production to process SAML assertions using an XUA configuration.

  You can now set up your web services and clients—whether in a Caché or a HealthShare environment—to process incoming and outgoing messages with SAML security.
